Applications

Bioremediation

Bioremediation refers to the use of microbes (bio) to remove contaminants from the environment, thereby returning the resources to their "clean & natural" state (remediate).

Can external inoculation help?

Bioremediation use specially selected microbes with known degradation capabilities targeted to the particular environmental contamination. Bioremediation techniques are designed to get the contamination clean and back to a "natural state" completely. Biodyne has developed microbial blends with special appetites for a variety of contaminants in many different applications. The success of bioremediation ultimately depends on the presence of capable microorganisms which can be properly "managed" to utilize their capabilities. Biodyne-USA produces these capable microorganisms that have helped with hundreds of Bioremediation projects, and our microbes are a valuable tool in getting contaminated sites to closure quickly and completely. Soil

Biodyne® has been involved in many soil bioremediation projects (especially petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents) involving ex situ, in situ and combined techniques. Inoculation with one or more of the ENVIRONOC blends has proven both beneficial and economical in these projects. We facilitate a “natural” cleanup using the Power of microbes and over time, the contaminating material is converted to innocuous carbon dioxide and water, thereby returning the soil to “clean” standards.

Groundwater

Typically, soil and groundwater contamination go hand in hand. Since it is usually impractical to pump contaminated groundwater out of the ground, most groundwater treatment techniques attempt to clean the groundwater “on site”, that is, in situ.

Our Experiences

Biodyne® has been involved in hundreds of groundwater bioremediation projects (especially petroleum hydrocarbons and chlorinated solvents) involving a variety of techniques befitting the particular circumstances. Inoculation with one or more of the ENVIRONOC® blends has proven both beneficial and economical in these projects.

Excavation with dewatering and subsequent biotreatment has proven beneficial recently to address modest soil contamination where excavation is warranted. Over time, the contaminating material is converted to innocuous carbon dioxide and water, thereby returning the groundwater to “clean” standards.

Sludge / Surface Water

Sometimes contaminants accidentally make their way into the water. In other cases, the purposeful deposition of contaminants into surface ponds, lagoons, etc. occurs during household, commercial and industrial activities. Either way, contaminated surface water can be a significant environmental issue.

Our Experience

Surface waters may become contaminated by many sources and substances. Whether fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides from lawn care, or petroleum hydrocarbons in collection ponds from large parking areas, or industrial or emergency spills, contaminants entering any type of surface water create environmnental risks and hazards.

Biodyne® has been involved in many surface water/sludge projects. Aeration, bottom mixing and inoculation with ENVIRONOC® blends has proved both beneficial and economical in these projects while very effective in getting surface water / sludge back to a “clean and natural” state.

Oilfield

Biotreatment with ENVIRONOC products can be very effective in remediating soils in the well-head area but has also been used to remediate oil in drilling muds and production pit sludge. Biotreatment has also been used effectively to reduce down-hole paraffin accumulation and increase effiency in the producing oil well.

Our Expierence

When petroleum hydrocarbons get into places they don’t belong, Biodyne® has found that its petroleum hydrocarbon degradation blend, ENVIRONOC 101, is especially effective in remediating impacted soils and surface waters. Periodic spraying with ENVIRONOC 101 and mineral nutrients coupled with moderate mixing will reduce contamination levels.
