Wastewater Treatment / Grease Reduction

The biological treatment of wastewater utilizes a variety of techniques to create optimal environmental conditions for the removal of organic matter using beneficial microorganisms. Basically any wastewater that packs an environmental impact needs to be treated before release. Biodyne-USA has several ENVIRONOC blends to help with many wastewater concerns and issues.

Types of wastewater

Wastewater can take many forms: domestic sewage from homes, food service establishments, commercial and industrial wastewater; industrial wastewater from manufacturing and servicing; wastewater generated washing equipment and floors; water generated while washing school buses, trucks or heavy equipment; industrial wastewater from food manufacturers, or a myriad of other similar examples.

Our Experience

Biodyne-USA has provided microbial products for a wide variety of wastewater projects with outstanding results. Inoculation with one or more of the ENVIRONOC blends has proven both beneficial and economical in these projects, and very beneficial for the environment. Feel free to contact us to learn more about our recent wastewater projects.

Domestic Wastewater

While most municipal / domestic wastewater treatment systems were designed primarily to treat household waste, commercial and industrial contributions have strained their treatment capacities. Lowly household and commercial septic tanks have their own problems dealing with domestic sewage. It is becoming more of a challenge each year to effectively treat domestic waste and keep up with regulations and requirements.

Benefits of Beneficial Microorganism Inoculation

ENVIRONOC® 301 can reduce levels of “garden variety” organics present in most domestic sewage while also handling more difficult intruders. Using beneficial microbes at municipal treatment facilities can enhance the operaton and keep everything running at the optimum level.

ENVIRONOC® 301 strains can result in increased removal of BOD and TSS in domestic wastewater while at the same time reducing sludge volume.

ENVIRONOC® 301 can Significantly reduce grease, odor and corrosion problems in the collection system lift stations.

ENVIRONOC® 301 can enhance the performance of septic tank systems while reducing drainfield problems. Many fouled absorbion fields have been Recovered with Environoc 301 beneficial microorganisms, thereby saving homeowners thousands of dollars vs replacing their system. Contact us to learn more.

Industrial Wastewater

Industrial systems usually don’t have a continuous supply of microbes coming into the system. Often the incoming food source is changing as production varies leading to inherent difficulties in maintaining a uniform microbial population. When shocks occur, the effects may be devastating and recovery may be slow. High wastewater levels can be very costly to the business and bad for the environment.

Benefits of Inoculation

ENVIRONOC® blends have sophisticated appetites allowing them to degrade both common and difficult compounds more efficiently. Furthermore, they are resilient to many toxic compounds due to their ability to not only survive in their presence, but actually degrade them.

ENVIRONOC® inoculation will optimize reduction of COD, BOD, TSS and odors while also reducing periodic upsets and downtime.

ENVIRONOC® can save time, money, and keep the industries below todays required effluent standards.

Agricultural Wastewater

Agricultural wastewater usually is generated by raising animal livestock. Livestock is defined as ‘animals kept or raised for use or pleasure’. While livestock usually brings to mind horses, cattle, pigs, chickens and turkeys, it could also refer to many other animal types. Each operation presents its own set of unique waste challenges for both the owner and the environment.

Benefits of Inoculation

While fecal material from livestock cultivation seldom makes its way into wastewater treatment plants, the final destination is the same, the environment. Even though the more common problems associated with animal waste have to do with waste handling and odor, reducing the strength in terms of environmental impact is also very important.

ENVIRONOC 301 inoculation has proven very effective in reducing wastewater thickness while at the same time helping to reduce odor. It also optimizes reduction of COD, BOD and TSS of the waste materials. Using these beneficial microorganisms for treating agricultural wastewater can greatly enhance the overall efficiencies of the operation and have a favorable environmental impact. Diluted ENVIRONOC 301 can also be used as spray around livestock housing and holding areas for significant odor control and reduction in insects attracted to the smell of livestock waste. Examples of recent projects include managing cattle waste, chicken house waste, and hog raising operations (pit treatment). Contact us to learn more.

Grease and Odor Control

Food preparation puts many materials into the drain system from a variety of sources including: food washing, cooking splatter / spillage, dishwashing, as well as equipment, wall, and floor cleaning. Food materials, especially Fats, Oils, Grease, that make their way into the drain system can contribute to wastewater collection difficulties as well as Significant problems for the Food Service business.

Why Grease Control?

Whether fast food or sit down meals, food preparation puts many food materials into the drain system from a variety of sources. This may lead to line blockage, odor, excessive grease trap buildup and possibly fines. There are several concerns regarding excess grease; the impact of grease on the drain system (backups, odor), grease trap (frequent pump outs), and ultimately the effluent impact to the recipient. Also, the impact of high strength foodstuffs on the ability to meet effluent discharge standards for BOD (biochemical oxygen demand) and TSS (total suspended solids). In addition to potential surcharges and fines, the odor and poor performance of drains can hinder the operation of the food service establishment.

Can external inoculation help?

ENVIRONOC 301 microbes produce enzymes which digest not only fats, oils, and grease, but also starch and protein under a variety of temperature conditions. This means less line clogging, less grease trap pumping and lower BOD and TSS values in the effluent leaving the grease trap. Please contact us for more information and project examples.
